Tony passed away 13.6.23 in Castlemaine.
Beloved husband of Helen for 58 years.
Father of Victoria and David, father in law of Delyth,
Papa of Robert, Alistair, Lewis, Iain and James.

Even though we live on the other side of the globe and met only a handful of times, Uncle Tony has been an important part of my life.
He always has been in our family prayers and that will not change.

I am saddened to hear of Tony passing away.

Although Tony and I were seperated by age growing up and by our distance geographically, I will always remember the times we did have. We were brothers.
I will have a mass said for him!

I have some lovely memories of Uncle Tony visiting us in Canada and hiking through the mountains in Jasper.
He was always engaged and curious about us, his extended family, and our part of the world.
I am grateful our families have stayed in touch over the many years.

I first met Tony in 1951 – I was 16 and he was a couple of years older I think. We were part of the “Bromley Gang” – all teenagers growing up together having experienced the horrors of the Blitz of London in World War 2.
We had parties, tennis matches, played golf, had our own hockey team, learned to ballroom dance at Frank and Peggy Spencer’s school of dance (she became famous! on TV here) and went to local dances. And who can forget meeting for coffee in Wilson’s and then on to Morley’s to listen to the latest hit records!!
We went to each others 21st birthday parties then later to the weddings!!
It was a wonderful time and the friends we made there lasted throughout our lives – we had a really special bond which all of us value to this day.
Tony was a very special person and a good friend – he was always kind, ready to listen when you needed advice.
We have stayed in touch throughout our lives and thanks to BOAC/BA I was able to visit Tony and Helen on several occasions and it was just like the good old days! Rest In Peace dear friend – the world is a poorer place now. xxx

From one of the last Members of “the Gang” who fled to South Africa then to Canada in 1955/56 I send my condolences to the family.
Just as Barbara has said we grew up in our late teens and early twenties together, Tony was always the one everyone could count on.
He was just a real ‘straight shooter”, a very patient man, he enjoyed a joke and was always ready to laugh .
Thanks for the memories, old friend, be at peace.
