Her “wonderful life” ended suddenly on 5th October 2023 at home in Glenluce.
Leaving her beloved husband Howard, her sons Bradley and Travis Lessware,
her step daughters Sarah Benson Blunt and Fiona Robinson, and their partners, and their children,
who were ten grandchildren who gave Judy so much pride and joy.
Judy led a full and fabulous life and will be forever cherished by all who knew her.
Special thanks to the Triple 000 staff and to the paramedics and police stationed at Castlemaine.

A horrible shock to hear that Judy has left us, but she leaves memories of such vivacity and joy in everything she did.
She grabbed life with both hands, and lived it to the full.
I always enjoyed her stories of her travels and gastronomic experiences, many of which I emulated. She loved her family, and I am so sorry for Howard and the children and their loss.
Your bubbly enthusiasm will always remain with me Judith. R.I.P.

Judith shall be sadly missed by all who did know her and had the pleasure of her company, as a lovely wine accompanied with fine food plus intellectual discussions were her way of enjoying life.
The world has been a much better place due to her mere presence and yes she shall be truly missed.
Patrick, Marie & Nicole Burke
Our sincere condolences to Howard, Bradley, Travis, Sarah, Fiona
and all your extended family on the passing of Judy.
Our thoughts are with you all.
Kind regards Robyn & Garry Sidwell and our family x
With grateful thanks for a loving and vivacious niece, who always remembered her Auntie Maggie. Thank you for keeping in touch, and your and Howard’s visits over many years, and for the laughter and stories we enjoyed. I will miss you greatly Judith.
Your Auntie Maggie (Margaret Tankard).
Our sincere condolences to Howard, Bradley, Travis, Sarah and Fiona and all the extended family on the sad loss of much-loved Judy. As her cousin, I will always be thankful for the way she honoured our grandfather Bill Rutherford, MM and bar, when she and Howard traced his military service in France. She was a generous hostess, a faithful and caring daughter to her parents as they aged, and a loving niece to my 91 year-old mother Maggie, who Judy and Howard visited regularly, even just two weeks before her death. Rest in Peace, dear Judy.
Paul and Tanya Tankard
It was with great sadness that we received the news of Judith’s sudden passing. A beautiful soul and character has left us all way too soon.
We have been very fortunate to have shared a small part of her blessed life.
The cheeky grin and sparkling eyes will be sorely missed but never forgotten.
Condolences to Howard and the extended family.

Ever since I came into the fold you welcomed me with open arms.
I called you my second mum. We always chatted about food, our boys and life. You were the family google and who knows where we will get our cooking advice from now. You were beyond magnificent and I’m going to miss you so much.

Nana,
We loved everything about you. You made us the yummiest food. We called you Good Food Jude. You gave us lollies when you shouldn’t have and cuddles when we needed them. You were the best Nana in the world. We will miss you and we love you .

Jude was my big sister and at times my confidant and the family matriarch.
Jude loved a chat and a project.
I had only been talking to Jude the day before she passed about tracking down some long distant family friends, which Jude said “I will put my energies into that when Howard and I get back from Queensland.
Jude had a fascination with family history and I will endeavour to continue that legacy.
Jude was generous and always invested time and energy into family and friends.
Jude you were taken far too early, you had so much unfinished business to do and many more trips to research and enjoy.
I will miss you terribly and not a day goes by that I reflect on our final conversation.
I take comfort in the many great memories of you, Mal and I growing up in Tucker Road and the adventures we shared at Breamlea.
You always looked out for me.
Rest peacefully Jude.
Your loving brother Rob.
Call it naivety however I never envisaged being faced with the task of acknowledging Jude’s passing. But here I am struggling to describe our life together and the bond we sisters shared.
Childhood, adolescence and adult memories – happy, fabulous, sad, super sad and somewhere in between – have filled my days and nights since Jude left us so suddenly and unexpectedly. Jude touched the lives of so many and certainly was the glue that kept our families in touch and up to date with what was happening. Her love of life, devotion to her immediate family and friends, her generosity, kindness and thoughtfulness shown to those fortunate enough to be in her huge circle of friends is the legacy she has left behind.
Thank you for our life shared Jude. ‘Different flowers from the same garden’ – borrowed words but oh so true.
I will miss you every day for the rest of my life.
Marilyn
Dear God please make sure that my Nana’s sister, Jude, has a good time in heaven.
She went there last week.
Please look after my nana she’s very sad.
From Alby Silver, (7 years old, whose homework was to write a prayer).
Lovely memories of a lady with sass and spirit. Judy was taken too soon and will be missed by everyone who knew her. Sending sympathy to her loves, Howard, her children and grandchildren. The world will be not such a bright place without her.

Judy – it was a privilege to have known you.
Ever since you and Howard moved into Tanner Street Richmond to become neighbours and then close friends with our son Damon and his partner Andrew, you became part of our family. We have fond memories of shared food, wine and laughter each time we visited Melbourne.
Our last visit, just a few short weeks ago, where you were the perfect host once again, will remain with us forever.
A ‘perfect ending’ to an amazing life. Our thoughts are with Howard and family!
Doris & John Gabbedy
I’ll remember Judy in so many positive ways.

My dear Aunty Jude.
Nothing but fun times with you over the years. You really grab life with both hands. The effort and energy you put into your family, your friendship and of course dinner parties was unmatched.
I’m going to miss to greatly Aunty Jude, you’ve left us way too soon but I’m grateful for the times we had together.
Rest easy.
Much love,

Jude
– a very dear school friend of 64 years.
Such sadness and non believing that you are not there at the end of the phone for a chat or available to catch up for lunch at The Moat for our annual birthday lunches. Sending love to Howard, Brad and Trav, Sarah and Fiona and all her very precious grandchildren.
A vivacious, classy and loyal woman who will be so missed by so many.
Rest in peace dear friend,
Bren Lovell (Martin) 💜.
We fondly remember more than 50 years of friendship, laughter, spirited political discussions and a love of fine cuisine and the finer things of life.
Love and condolences to Brad, Travis, Sarah, Fiona, Howard and extended family.
