Cherie slipped away quietly on the 31st of December 2023 aged 73.
In 1999 Cherie suffered a major brain aneurism - against the odds Cherie recovered, and lived for another 23 years.
Very few people are given this special gift of extra time and Cherie was special!
Cherie made the most of these extra years, obtaining a certificate of professional writing, and wrote several short stories.
She was at heart a cat person and owned a series of cats, the last one was her favorite called Sylvestor.
She wrote several articles for the Castlemaine Mail using Sylvestor to promote MAAWS, the animal shelter, and ended up with quite a
following. She continued to write until ill health prevented her from doing so.
To the end she remained the same sweet, gentle person that so many people were drawn to.
Our thanks to Arcare and Doctor Tom Dewar for their care and compassion.
No flowers by request.
Please make a donation if you wish
to MAAWS, in memory of Cherie.

Cherie was a warm, intelligent woman and a great friend.
In the past years until her stroke last year, I enjoyed our emails and telephone conversations, in which she remembered and recounted so much of our past history.
Even though the past year was challenging for her, she was always cheerful, accepting and trying to achieve small goals for herself.
I will miss our conversations and her memories and insights.

Goodbye Cherie, it was such a privilege to have met you. I’ll always remember your happy positive attitude to all of your endeavours. Thank you for starting the book club and introducing me to friends of the library. You did your best to spread sunshine on all that you encounter.
Fond memories of school days with Cherie. Then getting reacquainted with her in later years.
