Dear Jane, Jake & Sam
– our sincere condolences on the passing of Darren.
I have very fond memories working with both Darren and yourself “Jane” at LMW and appreciate your friendship and advice you both gave me while we were all working there.
Darren was a very well respected person and Engineer in Mildura, and am sure this extended into the other area’s he continued to work.
Our thoughts are with your family. Mark & Sam Hooper
Hello Jane
I was greatly shocked to hear the news but it’s nothing in comparison with what you are dealing with.
As yours and Darren’s boss for a short while, I was greatly disappointed when you guys moved on from LMW. Good staff are hard to find, great staff even harder.
My warmest and kindest regards. Ron Leamon
We were shocked to hear of Darren’s passing and sending our condolences to the Bennett family. We truly valued Darren’s approach which while 110% professional, always brought a balance of practicality and fairness across our dealings over the last three years. With a relationship that developed beyond work, I will personally miss our late afternoon work calls which normally turned to more important matters surrounding the progress and happenings of the North Melbourne footy club.
A respected client and friend that will be truly missed, taken far far too soon, rest in peace. Hugh, Tim and the wider Team and Civil and Earth.
We extend our sincere condolences to Jane, Jake, Sam and family on the sudden passing of Darren. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time.
Darren was a highly valued and respected workmate and valued friend who will be missed immensely.
Dear Jane, Jake and Sam,
Please accept my condolences on the passing of Darren.
Worked with Darren on LMW projects, namely Koorlong WWTP, he was a very strong and capable Engineer who was always available and no matter what time of the day.

Dear Jane, Sam and Jake
Please accept my deepest sympathy on the passing of Darren.
Those of us that worked with Darren recall his high standards and great eye for detail.
He had a great sense of humour and was always working to make the best life for his family.
As a colleague and friend he was always up for a chat where taking the opposing view was part of testing your opinions or just making the work better.
I remember Aloesi’s penalty in 2005 at the Mildura Grand, and turning on Koorlong WWTW in 2009, many great memories.
Gone too soon.
Farewell my friend. Mark Dawson
I have many fond memories of Darren in our younger years at Quamby.

Darren has advised, guided, mentored and taught me so much over the years, on many different projects.

Jane, my condolences to you and your family on Darren’s passing.
I had the pleasure to work with both of you at Lower Murray Water, even though it was only for a short time.
You both taught me a great deal about the water industry and for this I thankyou.
Darren will truly be missed. Matthew Mclean
Dear Jane, Jake & Sam,
My sincerest condolences on the passing of Darren.
I was lucky enough to have had the pleasure of working with Darren for over 10 years.
Darren truly was a well respected member of the engineering fraternity, but more importantly a fantastic person to work with.
I will sorely miss our lengthy phone calls, always starting with life, some engineering in the middle, before returning again to life or a laugh.
Forever grateful for your support and mentorship provided over the years.
Rest in peace. Ashley Sim
Dear Jane, Jake and Sam.
Please accept our condolences on the passing of Darren.
I’m lost for words, such a great guy left us far too early.
I will miss our afternoon chat on how we could fix anything that might have popped up during the day and what was to confront us going forward.
The fun and banter of rosellas in the roof to the Ferrari parked out the front.
Darren was a friend, mentor and inspiration to all who had the privilege of meeting him.
Rest in peace mate.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Jane, Jake and Sam. Junior and Bonnie Kelly
Dear Jane, Jake and Sam,

He did everything in life for his family and was a true gentleman.
My thoughts are with you all. Jonno
Dear Jane and boys. I missed you both when you both departed LMW for Castlemaine. Enjoyed your company, our chats and journey together with LMW. Darren You and I had lots of laughts! I dont know what to say that can help, Loss is such a crap outcome. Stay strong please. Very very best wishes we are all thinking about you and remembering Darren. Pete Ebner
My association with DB started 16 years ago when I started working on Koorlong Augmentation Project with him and other Consultants. The relationship then continued on many other projects and we never lost touch with each other until his last day. He was always so generous and supportive that he let me tap into his vast reserve of technical, contract and project management expertise as if they were mine. We fought many battles together on sites, winning some and losing others. When the going got tough on sites emails flew back and forth between us until well past midnight. My telephone calls to him on Sundays were always returned. I always felt his supportive presence around me when I needed him most. In the middle of all the chaos on site, he delivered humour at regular intervals and I found his advanced jokes were a great stress reliever in those pressure cooker environments. I also became one of those who was privileged to be nicknamed by him!
I lost one of the best Goto people I have ever met in my long career spanning over 30 years. Darren is an inspirational soul, a great mentor and above all a good friend gone far too soon. No doubt the sight of massive projects he contributed to build on earth will bring back the fond memories of him for years to come and he will not be forgotten.
Rest in peace mate. Prasanna Seneviratne
Such a tough time for you Jane, Jake and Sam.
To the boys, you had a great Dad. He was so proud of you two and would speak of you often, with what you’d been up to. He will always be looking over your shoulder and still supporting you through life, to be sure you are safe and that you achieve your goals. If you ever get into some tough times, just remember his love and support and think “what would Dad do?”
Similarly Jane, when Darren spoke of you, which was also often; his immense love for you was strong and obvious.
Take care at this tough time, as I remember Darren as a staunch and loyal friend, he would fight for what he believed in, always had and shared his opinion, which was most always the right one, and he was there to support, usually wrapped up with a joke.
All the very best to you. Todd Trench
