Frances joined the Cactus Warrior volunteer group around 2012 and was a passionate supporter of the group’s monthly community field days for many years.
She also served as a generous and dedicated committee member of the Tarrangower Cactus Control Group from 2015-2022.
Thankyou Frances for your passion and friendships, now Rest in Peace.
A farewell to Frances from one of Maldon’s singing groups.
Frances was a valued member of our Madrigals singing group, we called ourselves the ‘Madrigal Mystery Tour’. Madrigal pieces are a style of secular vocal music of the Renaissance period, that is, during the 15th and 16th centuries. The singing is ‘a cappella’ (without instrumental accompaniment) and written for three, four and five voices.
Our group consisted of six singers and a conductor.
The Madrigal Mystery Tour sang together for around 12 years. We loved it.
Frances was part of the group for the entire time our group sang together. She was fun to sing with, and we greatly admired and valued the knowledge of music and language that she brought to our group.
During the time we sang together we became great friends, and those friendships have lasted through to this day.
We very much loved, valued and enjoyed our time of singing together, Frances, it was a special time of group singing that has never, in our lives, been bettered.
You will always be loved and remembered by us, as one of our Madrigal Mystery Tour members.
We hope that singing with the angels is as good as singing with Maldon’s Madrigal Mystery Tour (though I doubt that it could be as good).
Love to you Frances, and a sad farewell from the Maldon madrigal singers.
Written by Jude and Jen on behalf of the rest of our singing group.
David Alleway and I couldn’t be with you at the live funeral for lovely Frances.
She was a dear friend of ours whom we shared many times with over several years.
These were most often around music sessions and festivals.
Thankyou to her family and friends for sharing your loving memories of her extraordinary life journey with us, they certainly helped fill in the gaps and deepen our connection to her.
Warmest regards
Diane Gaylard
