Dear Jean, I will always treasure my memories of you and your beautiful stories of your extraordinary life.
Will miss you spelling your name out in full and your love of your Scottish heritage… Jean Maclachlan McNee!
Thank you so much for being a very special person in our Monday Alex Ladies Club. Miss you dearly.
Daniel
Jean was always a warm and welcoming person. We particularly appreciated her care of Auntie Margaret.
Thanks Jean,
Norma and Gregor.
Jean was such a special friend to my late mother Jean Ritchie.
At its’ core, their friendship was built on the foundation of shared experiences.
Whether it was laughter or tears shed in moments of vulnerability, or the quiet understanding between kindred spirits, these shared moments created a tapestry of beautiful memories that was theirs alone.
I remember Jean as such a bright and beautiful lady inside and out, and offer my sincere condolences to all Jean’s family, whom she always spoke so beautifully about and was so proud of.
Elissa Ritchie
Jean, my only first cousin.
I will miss our regular phone conversations and the fact that you always asked after all my grand daughters. You had an amazing life, with growing up in Broome, going to Melbourne as an unaccompanied 8 year old to live with your grand mother (whom you had never meet) for a year and going to boarding school in Perth at a young age.
A life that few people could ever comprehend.
Rest in peace Jean

Jean… Mother of my friend Bron.
I only met you briefly once, but I know that you had Bron’s utmost love, respect, trust and loyalty.
Congratulations for being that sort of Mother.
I think that Bron would be very like you in many ways, and I know that I would have loved to get to know you if we had had the opportunity.

Jean was a wonderful member of the caring community that supported and contributed to the founding of the Christian Community College.
Jean was a member of the Duke of Edinburgh team and was the receptionist in 1975 to 1977.
Many a student was taught cooking of pizzas and scrambled eggs in my kitchen.
Jean with Brian was ever generous and many a function was held on her barn.
She was a great friend of the college and was made an associate member.
Jean honestly lived a live of commitment and she did it with style.
Jean made her contribution to the development of regional central Victoria
She belonged to a very special generation of women who gave their all for the next generation.
May all her family be surrounded by love and hold Jean’s memory ever in their hearts.

Jean was such a great friend and neighbour to us for so many years.
I’ll miss her and remember her always.

Fond memories of Jean and her interesting tales of life in Western Australia before the War … living in Broome and having to go by ship as a young child to go to school.
She also spoke of life in a distant suburb of Melbourne as a young wife … always doing things.
A very dynamic woman full of interest in the world.
I regret that age prevents me from attending her funeral in person, but I will watch it on my computer.

Farewell dear Jean.
I will remember you fondly as a vital and keen member of our monthly lunch group throughout your 90’s.
You have been a woman of style, of wisdom and grace and wit.
A long life so well lived.
A wonderful woman.
I will miss you.

To the Dowie Family,
I know the loss of my mother was felt very personally, the funeral was beautiful and you all spoke well.
Now life moves forward with the next generation and it is up to us to maintain the great tradition they have made for us.
We all grow up too fast.
Robert Mason and the Mason family.
Jean Dowie was a lifelong friend to my mother Rae Edwards (née Watson) in Perth, Western Australia, and the two families have been linked throughout that time.
Jean was a wonderful, warm hearted person who had a very positive influence on the lives of Andy, Amanda, myself and our families.
She will be remembered with love by us all.
We offer our sincere condolences on behalf of the whole Edwards family.
John Edwards
