Mick passed away peacefully on 11th July 2020 in Castlemaine.
Loved husband of Jan, father of Dan and Laura, father in law of Elissa and Marc, Pa to Luke, Zac, Cam and Annalise.
A private service will be held for Mick on Thursday 16th July at 11.00am.

My sincere condolences to Jan and family.
My memories of Mick are many conversations during Patient Transport runs, with Mick sharing with me his passion for his family, cars and his garden.
Thank you mate for those memories.

I have had the privilege of special trips & conversations with Mick. Stories we shared of Swan Hill, his car, family….not to mention the laughs we had…. will remain with me forever.
Some people step into your life through different circumstances…….the special ones remain in my heart….will never forget our last time together.

I am so sorry for the loss of Mick ,being his boss at Ballarat and Clarendon college having great laughs at everyone expense at the pool at the school .
His sense of humour will never leave me or his love of his roses and motor bikes.

I only met Michael for a few short hours , but it was a privilege he was kind and caring , I have very happy memories of meeting Jan and Michael and hearing about his early childhood . What a lovely man . Thinking of you all and praying for you Chris .
I first met Mick as a 12 year old. He had just bought Polly Fleming’s house in Queen St. His house mate had a horse that was kept in the vacant block next door. That horse stood on my foot and broke my little toe the year I was to go to High School.
Over the next few yeas I would see Mick go up the road to the Tram stop in Victoria St to go to work. He always looked very smart in his big green Trammies overcoat. Then the trams were stopped.
Mick got a job at “Coronet Caravans.” next thing he bought a motor bike. This was great, Mick was ” bikie” All future grooviness was measured by the fact that he drove a motor bike.
By 1972 I thought that Mick needed a girlfriend, I just happened to have a sister that needed a boyfriend; and the rest is history.
My Dad was a bit concerned; he mentioned ” this Mick !! there’s Mick Antonio Mick someone, they even call Catholic’s Micks” He even wandered across the bridge to see if Mick was looking after the “girlies” ie Me and Jan.
Mick and Jan were married in 1974 and after they had renovated the Queen St cottage enjoyed a few years of married bliss.
They then moved to Humffray St Sth. Mick was now employed at Lakeside and did his horticultural degree. Jan continued her role as a teacher and later Mum to be. Dan and Laura were both born during this time. Mick would take Dan for a walk on a Sunday morning, especially after a long night of Dan’s crying, just to give Jan a rest. This tidy stroll would consist of a walk up to Lake Wendouree at least 10ks from Humffray St, circumnavigate the Lake 5ks, back to Mum and Dad’s in South St another 3ks, warm up Dan’s bottle and mosie on back home. All in all around 30ks+ would be covered. Mick even changed babies nappies although he was a bit timid when Laura came along. “Too many cervices”
Then they moved to Lexton St Wendouree. Now they could all walk around the Lake together. My kids (who weren’t really keen on walking) wouldn’t complain because there was always an ice cream at the ice cream shop on Wendouree Pde.
I am trying to think of his most proudest moments.
Marring Jan, Having Dan the son and heir. Having a daughter so that he could fight off all the young bucks. Getting his “piece of paper” in horticulture. Seeing both the kids graduate in their chosen fields. Giving Laura away at her wedding to someone he liked. Watching Dan graduate from the police academy and having his photo taken with “Karl” Watching Dan get married to his chosen love. Having a Grandson, Grandson and Grandson named after him (Even though He would never answer to Cameron) then having a Granddaughter.
Anyone wondering where” Muncle” came from my Grand Daughter Indigo christened Mick that when she was little thus Muncle Mick came to be.
One funny thing I have to share is: – One time when Mick and Jan came to Perth for a visit Mick asked me “Adriene why do you have jumper leads hanging up in your bathroom?” Jan said “what are you talking about?” Then it dawned – jumper leads?? My hair straightener. From that day on hair straighteners have been referred to as jumper leads.
Another thing Mick was proud of was when He and I went to Dan’s inauguration to the police force. We got lost on the way and thought we would be late . After all the pomp and ceremony we walked back towards the car. Unbeknownst to Mick and I we had crossed the parade ground (sacred sight in the eyes of the force) Dan informed us that we should have walked around. Mick said “na there we went straight through the guts.”
My love to my big sister Jan, I knew Mick was the one for you all those years ago, Dan and Laura my amazing nephew and niece, Marc and Elissa you are also amazing and as Mick would say “the rug rats” Luke ,Zac, Cam and Annaliese.

Our sincere condolences. Mick was one of the best. A man of loyalty, integrity, hard work, kindness, commitment and love. The beautiful family he leaves behind is true testament to the remarkable job he did as a loving father and grandfather. We share in your sadness, and will remember Mick as the remarkable man that he was.
