Peter Caird
The nose that knows
The idiosyncratic designer
The solar visionary
The eternal Pollyanna
Peter Caird has finally had the last word and departed this world.
Caird died early Saturday afternoon, April 9, at St John of God Hospital, Bendigo.
Following eighteen months of failing health, he decided to make his exit, slipping away as efficiently as he lived.
He died peacefully and surrounded by family.
To all who knew him, he will remain unforgettable.
A glass half-full in life
A full glass of red at night
Raise your glass in a toast to his indominable spirit.

To Liz. So sad to hear of Peter’s death, we always thought of him as eternal.
Many fond memories of Strathallan and the muddy, then the slow drive home after many reds and lots of Leonard Cohen.

I was very sorry to read of the passing of Peter.
I always enjoyed my chats with Peter when I took Helen to see you, and get his advice on how to preserve olives, which he loved to give.

Dear Liz and family,
Condolences on the loss of the amazing Peter. Always a gentleman, and putting one at ease in all circumstances I knew him.
Loved the artist in him and our discussions on art and pottery.
‘How does one become a butterfly?’ Pooh asked pensively. ‘You must want to fly so much that you are willing to give up being a caterpillar’ Piglet replied. ‘You mean to die?’ asked Pooh. ‘Yes and no,’ he answered. ‘What looks like you will die, but what’s really you will live on.’” Alan Alexander Milne.

A truly genuine and charismatic character who will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
