The universe spoilt me with your love, Dad, and that will never die.
Not a loving word left unsaid, not a grievance left unresolved.
I am grateful to have been able to talk to you about anything.
We were often philosophically and politically opposed. Mid conversation, you’d say, “Mum would be proud to hear you right now, Sen”. And I am so proud to be your daughter, Dad.
Hours spent fence-posting with you on the farm, out in the wide-open spaces, with the conversation soaring from the stars to the clouds to water divining to rock formations and everything in between have carved out a space in me that feels like a hug.
It’s a place of pure happiness. I never wanted it to end.
Those spaces are where I am closest to you now, the spaces between earth country and sky country.
As you always said, “the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.”
I am me because of you.
I love you, Dad. Siena
