Maureen was a very community minded person, over the years she has been a committed and active member of many of our local organizations.
She was one of the founding members of the Newstead Fire Brigade Auxiliary, during that time she held many positions on the committee during her 40 years of service.
For 25 years she organized and ran the community dances, raising between $50,000 and $60,000 for the brigade.
A generous caring friend to us all, whom we will sadly miss, but we will always remember.
Thank you Maureen for being our friend and for what you have done. “We will always remember the good times” (her words)
Our love and sympathy to the Heagney family.
    – Joan, Ralph Sartori and family.

It’s been so hard to say goodbye to you Mum 😢. Thanks for being the best Mum and Grandma. For all your love and endless support, for all the beautiful sewing and knitting, for all the delicious cooking. For being a woman of faith all your life. For your countless community fundraising efforts, for quietly helping people who needed it without making a fuss. For the shared garden wisdom, the recipe and book swaps. I’ll miss those phone calls that start with “it’s your Mother here” and end with “love to you all”.
Love to you too, Mum. You’ll be always loved and forever missed ❤️

  17. Samantha Grech says:

What can we say about Maureen other than she was an amazingly kind warm hearted friend.
When my family & I owned a farm in Newstead Maureen, Maurice &amp their family made us feel so Welcomed even though we weren’t permanent locals & even after My Dad Mario’s passing in 1995 Maureen continued to keep in contact with us. We may have sold the farm, but she still made us feel apart of that community…so many fond memories.
Our hearts break for Maurice & family.
We Loved you Maureen & I know that you & Dad are up there in heaven catching up.
So much Love from the Grech Family❤️🙏
